Second Team All-Southeastern Conference (Coaches selection) for the 2012
college football season. Week
6 SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Graded out at 86 percent against Georgia with seven knockdowns and no
quarterback pressures in South Carolina’s 35-7 win against Georgia. Started more games than any other
player in South Carolina history. Played in East –West Shrine All-Star Game.
Played in 13 games.
2011:
Junior who started all 13 games at center. Was a third-team All-SEC selection
according to Phil Steele. Was on the Rimington Award watch list. One of three
players named a Harold White GPA Award winner at the 2011 Garnet & Black
Spring Game. Member of the 2011 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
2010:
Started all 14 games at center. Named first-team All-SEC by Rivals.com and
second team by Phil Steele. Also named second-team All-Sophomore by College-
FootballNews.com. Rewarded with a game ball and was named the SEC Offensive
Lineman of the Week following opening-game performance vs. Southern Miss when
he helped pave the way for a 224-yard rushing total. Earned a spot on the SEC
Fall Academic Honor Roll. Given the Weight Room Effort Award in the spring.
2009:
Redshirt freshman offensive lineman who earned Freshman All-SEC recognition by
the league's 12 coaches. Earned honorable mention Freshman All-America honors
by CollegeFootballNews.com. Earned his first start as the right guard in the
season-opening win at NC State. Became the only offensive lineman and one of
just five players on the squad to start every game. Named the Most Improved
Offensive Lineman in the spring.
2008:
Redshirted in his first season on the Carolina campus.
High
School: Graduated from Aynor (S.C.) High School in 2008. Earned first-team
all-state honors as selected by the Associated Press as a senior. Was a
second-team All-State pick by The State. Played in the 71st-annual Shrine Bowl
of the Carolinas. Named to the All-Atlantic Region
team by PrepStar magazine. Rivals.com ranked him as the 13th-best offensive
center in the nation and the 17th-best player in the state of South Carolina. Considered a three-star prospect.
Chose South Carolina over offers from Vanderbilt, Duke, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Kentucky, Maryland, and NC State.
