2017: Voted a team captain by his teammates prior to the season. Suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the year at Northern Illinois (9/1/17). Awarded a medical redshirt.
2016: Started all 13 games at center. Member of the offensive line that allowed the Eagles to rack up over 400 yards of total offense in back-to-back games against Wagner (490) and Buffalo (400), and over 300 yards five times. Did not allow quarterback Patrick Towles to be sacked at Virginia Tech (Sept. 17) and against Wagner (Sept. 24), and allowed just one sack three times (vs. Georgia Tech, at Massachusetts, Syracuse). Helped BC to a season-high 300 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns and 42 points against Wagner. Blocked for three rushing TDs against Buffalo (Oct. 1). ACC All-Academic Team selection.
2015: Started all 12 games. Lined up at left guard the first three games before starting the final nine games at center. Member of the offensive line that allowed the Eagles to score eight rushing touchdowns and put up 549 yards of offense against Howard (Sept. 12). Helped Boston College register more than 300 yards of total offense and more than 200 rushing yards five times. Part of the blocking unit that did not allow a sack against Howard or at Duke (Oct. 3), and just one to Northern Illinois (Sept. 26), Wake Forest (Oct. 10) and at Syracuse (Nov. 28). Member of the All-ACC Academic Team. Earned the Athletic Director’s Award for Academic Achievement.
2014: Played in 10 games. Listed second on the depth chart at left guard behind Bobby Vardaro. Played in a season-high 24 snaps against Colorado State (Sept. 27), helping the Eagles rush for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Earned the Athletics Director’s Award for Academic Achievement.
High School: Attended Millis High School in Massachusetts. Twice earned Tri-Valley League Lineman of the Year honors (as a sophomore and junior). Twice served as team co-captain of the Mohawks. Earned Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors in 2012 and 2013. Started 41 games and helped lead Millis to Tri-Valley League small titles in 2011 and 2012. Played for head coach Dale Olmsted.
Personal: Jonathan H. Baker. A marketing major enrolled in the Carroll School of Management. Recipient of the Anne and Gerald B. Healy Scholarship for Academic Excellence. Jon is the son of Carol and Dave Baker.
